Dr. Kristin Schnurr, ND
As some of you know, I recently began a yearlong mentorship in Alchemical Acupuncture and thought I would use this space to share more information about a course I feel really excited about.
Alchemical acupuncture is about restoring spirit to our everyday lives. The premise being that supporting people in uncovering and manifesting their “Tao” or true life purpose is a central part of the healing process. It helps us to begin to makes sense of our stuck places: illness, pain, depression, anxiety and confusion, as being medicine in their own right, bringing with them the potential for us to get closer to our authentic nature and ultimately our destiny
I was drawn to this work because of big questions arising in my own life and in the lives of the people I feel so privileged to work with in my practice. Questions such as: how can I help people integrate powerful energetic shifts that arise with treatment? How do I support people in recognizing their bodies as sources of wisdom? How do I support people in transforming self-destructive behaviours and addictions? How do I support people through big decisions or, major life transitions – loss, chronic illness, death? Healing is not always a one-way process of getting someone back to their “old self”, sometimes, it involves creating space for a new possibility to arise. In the words of my teacher Lorie Eve Dechar, “Alchemy invites us to exchange our fear of the unknown for curiosity about what's attempting to come to life, including - and often most especially - the sometimes terrifying greatness of our own being.”
Personally, so far, it has been an incredibly enriching experience. The mentorship requires each participant to engage fully in the inner work of their own alchemical process with the ultimate goal being to be able to serve as effective support for others as they engage in the process of transformation.
I look forward to more “big questions” and to our continued work together.
